EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette athletics continued its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Tuesday morning, unveiling seven female student-athletes up for the Class of 1913 Trophy. The nominees include field hockey's
Rachel Bird, cross country and track and field's
Caroline Harmon, swimming and diving's
Reeve Lanigan, cross country and track and field's
Emily Moore, women's lacrosse's
Emma Novick, women's soccer's
Alex Stanford and softball's Madeline Wensel.
The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will take place on Thursday, May 23, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.
Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.
The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.
The male nominees for both awards will continue to be released throughout this week, leading up to Thursday's event. Information on the 2019 female nominees for the Class of 1913 Trophy can be found below.
Rachel Bird, Field Hockey: Economics and German major…winner of the Rexroth Prize in German Studies…won the team's Academic Excellence and Players awards…member of the Lafayette Student-Athlete and Patriot League honor rolls for all four years…part of an NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad all four years…attended the Naval Academy Leadership Conference in 2018…co-chair of SAAC in 2017-18 and chaired in 2018-19…served as a Peer Mentor and a two-year captain in 2017 and 2018…named the Patriot League Defender of the Week in October of 2019…started all 19 games in the fall of her senior season.
Caroline Harmon, Cross Country and Track and Field: Chemical Engineering major…holds five school records (Indoor 1 Mile, Outdoor 1500m, Indoor 4x800m Relay, Outdoor 4x800m Relay, Outdoor Distance Medley Relay)…won the 1500m at the Lehigh Dual Meet twice…top 10 at Lafayette in the Indoor Distance Medley Relay, the Indoor 1000m and the Indoor 800m…scored at the Patriot League Championships three times individually and nine times as part of a relay, and was in Lafayette's scoring seven at the Patriot League Championships all four seasons with cross country…earned All-East honors twice in the 4x800m Relay…served as a captain for the cross country team in 2018 and 2018 and was a 2019 captain for track and field's indoor and outdoor campaigns…recognized as a Leader of Distinction with the Oaks Leadership Academy in 2019…served as track and field's representative in Athletes 4 S.E.R.V.I.C.E….earned Dean's List all four semesters and has accepted a position with Gore following graduation.

Novak Prize in Government & Law, the 2019 Award in Women's Gender Studies, the 2018 James F. Emily Moore, Cross Country and Track and Field: Chemical Engineering major…holds the school record in the Indoor 5000m at 16:54.23, the only female under 17:00…placed seventh at the 2017 Patriot League Indoor Championships in the 5000m…holds three top-10 times at Lafayette in the outdoor 10000m, the outdoor 3000m steeplechase and the indoor 3000m…was a top-five runner on the cross country team all four years, including a top-20 finish at the Patriot League Championships in 2016…placed seventh at the ECAC Championships to earn All-East honors in 2017 in the Indoor 5000m…was an Academic All-American in 2018…female winner of the 2018 Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete Award…served as a team captain on the cross country team for two seasons, earning Academic All-Patriot League honors in 2016…was a member of the Oaks Leadership Academy and named a Leader of Distinction…earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status all four years…winner of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Donald F. Alex Stanford, Women's Soccer: Biology major…served as a team captain in 2018, scoring her first career hat trick in a home win over Delaware State…assisted on a goal in the Leopards' upset win over Villanova and scored twice in a home victory against Saint Peter's…recognized as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27…named to the All-Patriot League Third Team in 2018 as well as the Academic All-Patriot League Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District II Team…was a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and a two-year Peer Mentor.
Maddie Wensel, Softball: Biology major…finished with a career .260 batting average, splitting time between catcher and first base…holds three top-10 spots in the Lafayette record books in home runs (9), doubles (27) and RBI (61)…a Marquis Scholar, she earned Dean's List every semester and was an Academic All-Patriot League selection in 2018 and 2019…member of the Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll…was a 2018 NFCA Scholar All-American and a nominee for the Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete Award…nominee for the James F.
