EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette women’s soccer head coach Mick Statham announced the team’s 2014 schedule Thursday. The team will play nine matches at Oaks Stadium and also travel to Florida this season.
The 2014 campaign starts with a four-game road trip. The Leopards kick off the season on August 26 at Saint Peter’s. Lafayette will travel to North Florida for a matchup on Friday August 29, followed by a match with Jacksonville University on Sunday. The Maroon and White return to the northeast on September 5 when they visit Manhattan.
The first home contest of 2014 will be against Binghamton on Sunday September 7. Opening kick is schedule for 1:05 p.m. The Leopards host UMass-Lowell under the lights on September 12 before traveling to Monmouth for a 6 p.m. kickoff on September 14.
Patriot League play begins on Saturday September 20, as Lafayette duels with Colgate at 7:05 p.m. The following Friday the Leopards will make the trip to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Lafayette renews its rivalry with Lehigh in a midweek contest on October first at Oaks Stadium, followed by a game at home against Holy Cross on October 4. The Leopards make their first trip to Boston University a week later to take on the Terriers.
A non-league match against NJIT is next for the Leopards on October 15. Patriot League play is back in action on October 18, as Lafayette welcomes American for a 2:05 p.m. kickoff.
Back-to-back Patriot League road games are next for the Leopards. First the team travels to Lewisburg, Pa. for a midweek clash with Bucknell on October 22. The final regular season road contest is set for October 25 in West Point, N.Y. against Army.
The final non-league game of the season is Tuesday October 28 against Columbia. Lafayette’s final regular season match of the season is slated for November 1 against Loyola. Opening kick is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Patriot League Tournament is scheduled for November 11-16. A pair of quarterfinal games will be played at the site of the higher-seeded team on November 11, with the sixth-seed visiting the third-seed and the fifth-seed at the fourth-seed. Those winners will then join the top two seeds in the weekend semifinal (Nov. 14) and championship game (Nov. 16), played at the site of the highest overall seed in the tournament. The brackets will re-seed after the quarterfinal round on Nov. 11.
