The Leopards open the second half of Patriot League play at Navy on Saturday night. Lafayette comes in on a two-game winning streak, while the Mids hold a perfect 9-0 mark in the league. Navy won the first game between the two squads, 67-53, on January 5th.
Last Time Out
Linnel Macklin scored a career-high 25 points and tossed in a career-best seven threes to help the Leopards past Colgate, 90-75, on Wednesday night. Emily Homan continued her impressive run of play, recording a double-double (26 points and 16 rebounds), her third straight game with 20 or more points. Madeline Fahan and Danielle Fiacco each finished in double figures with 11 and 10.
Player of the Week
Emily Homan was dominant last week on her way to her second Patriot League Player of the Week honor of the season. The junior averaged 27.5 points and 9.0 boards per game as the Leopards split a pair of games during the span. Against Holy Cross Homan scored a career-high 32 points on 15-of-21 shooting from the field. The junior also grabbed 13 boards and two steals. Against arch rival Lehigh, Homan led the Leopards with 23 points and collected five rebounds. Homan was at it again on Wednesday at Colgate, leading the team with a game-high 26 and career-best 16 rebounds.
Macklin for Three
Junior Linnel Macklin turned in her best performance of her collegiate career in the Leopards 90-75 win over Colgate. Macklin scored a career-high 25 points on a career-best seven threes, one triple away from tying the single game record at Lafayette.
Fahan Taking Over
In the past three games, senior Madeline Fahan has averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. The California native took over the first half of the game against Lehigh, scoring 12 points and grabbing nine boards.
Against the Mids
The Leopards and Mids play their second contest of the season. Navy took the first meeting 67-53 on College Hill. Two of the last three meetings have gone to overtime, including a tightly contested game in last season’s Patriot League Quarterfinals.
The Mids come in with the third highest scoring offense in the Patriot League averaging 68.8 points per game. Combined with a defensive effort of 58.6 points per game, they boast the highest scoring margin in the league. As a team the Mids are shooting 42.8 percent from the floor; four of the starting five are shooting over 40 percent. Kara Pollinger is the leading scorer with 14.8 points per game, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from three. Jade Geif averages 11.6 points per night and has pulled down 181 rebounds. Alix Membreno is the third Mid in double figures scoring 10.9 points per game. Chloe Stapleton and Audrey Bauer round out the starting five, both average 9.4 points per game.
Dianne Nolan is in her third season at the helm of the Lafayette program. She holds a 557-486 career record, including 40-70 on College Hill. Stefanie Pemper leads the Mids in her sixth season in Annapolis. She holds a career 344-118 record, including a 109-70 mark at Navy.
Lafayette returns to Kirby Sports Center on Wednesday night when the Leopards host Bucknell at 7 p.m. The Maroon and White remain at home on Feb. 8 against Boston University.
