Lafayette 19th After First Round of Navy Invitational

Competing in its final competition before the Patriot League Championship, Lafayette sits in 19th place at the 2013 Navy Spring Invitational, 24 strokes off the lead at 34-over par. Navy and Virginia are tied atop the leaderboard at 10-over on the par-71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
Other Patriot League teams in the field include Bucknell (8th at 20-over), Lehigh (T12 at 26-over) and Colgate (21st at 47-over).
Rounding out the top five through the first round are Virginia Tech (T3 at +12), Wake Forest (T3 at +12) and Pennsylvania (5th at +14).
Virginia's Mac McLaughlin and Wake Forest's Evan Beck are tied atop the individual leaderboard after each recorded a one-under 70.
Lafayette was paced by captain David Kafafian and Mike Zausmer who each fired a 77 to sit in a tie for 43rd place. The remaining Lafayette individual scores include Doug Fernandez (T80 with an 81), Peter Gross (T91 with an 83) and Patrick Luther (T96 with an 85).
The second and final round is scheduled for tomorrow.
