Kinney Signs 10 to Class of 2017

EASTON, Pa. - Head Coach Joe Kinney has announced the addition of 10 student-athletes who will join the Lafayette baseball team as part of the Class of 2017. The class consists of four players from New Jersey, three from Maryland, two from Pennsylvania and another from Missouri. Five of the incoming freshmen are pitchers, two patrol the outfield, two are infielders and one catcher rounds out the class.

Adam Ashenfarb (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro):
Left-handed pitcher… named 2013 Marlboro High School Athlete of the Year…2012 All-Monmouth County selection…2012 A-North Division choice…2012 All-Shore Conference Team member…held the highest GPA on his team. 

David Bednar (Valencia, Pa./Mars): Right-handed pitcher…2012-13 All-Pittsburgh Post Gazette and All-Section selection…named Most Valuable Player of the Western Pennsylvania All-Star Game…Team MVP as a junior and senior…Western PA AAA Pitcher of the Year finalist…member of the National Honor Society.

Tom Bradway (Linwood, N.J./Mainland): Outfielder…2012-13 All-Cape Atlantic Conference selection…Press of Atlantic City All-South Jersey choice…team captain in baseball and football…member of the National Honor Society.

Trevor Houck (Westminster, Md/Westminster): Right-handed pitcher…2012-13 All-County selection…2013 All-Baltimore Metro choice…2013 Rawlings Atlantic Region Honorable Mention… Carroll County Player of the Year…part of Westminster’s 4A State Championship team as a sophomore.

Rob Ewald (Olivette, Mo./Ladue Horton Watkins): Right-handed pitcher…2013 All-Conference selection…2013 PNC Banck All-Star…All-St. Louis Metro Area honoree…2013 Rawlings Central Region Honorable Mention…All-State Honorable Mention choice…team captain.

Austen Maggin (Potomac, Md./Maret): Catcher…2012-13 All-Conference selection…2013 Rawlings Atlantic Region Honorable Mention… 2012-13 Washington Post All-Metropolitan choice…holds the single-season home run record at Maret after hitting eight as a junior.

Nick Murray (Potomac, Md./Landon): Infield…2012 All-Inter Athletic Conference selection...helped his team reach the 2013 Interstate Athletic Conference championship game…2013 All-Montgomery County Gazette.

Coleman Strohm (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy): Right-handed pitcher…four-year letterwinner at Shadyside Academy…helped his team to three sectional championships (2010, 2011, 2012)…led his team in wins in 2013.

Alex Woinski (Paramus, N.J./St. Joseph): First base…2012-13 All-Division selection…2013 All-Bergen County choice…MSG Varsity All-New Jersey Team honoree…Star-Ledger All-Non Public NJ…member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honors Society…four-year member of the Principal’s list…ranked third in his class…also played soccer at St. Joseph.

Ronald Sessa (Chester, N.J./Immaculata/Northeastern):Outfield…spent the 2012-13 season at Northeastern University…four-year starter and team captain and MVP as a senior...2011 Perfect Game Underclass All-American Honorable Mention...2011 Star-Ledger All-Somerset County Selection…2012 Rawlings Northeast Region Honorable Mention…2012 Star-Ledger First Team All-Somerset County...2012 Courier News First Team All-Area...2012 First Team All-Skyland Conference-Delaware Division...named to the 2012 MSG Varsity All-New Jersey Team and the 2012 New Jersey State Senior All-Star Team...winner of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award, which recognizes high school juniors in NJ who demonstrate outstanding performance in academics, athletics, and community service and exhibit leadership qualities…member of the National Honor Society.
