Lafayette makes the trip to Jacksonville, Fla. for a weekend series with North Florida. The Leopards come into the weekend 2-10 overall after two weekend trips to North Carolina, a midweek game with Rider, a four-game series at Maryland Eastern Shore, and a contest with Temple.
Last Time Out
The Leopards fell to Temple in Ambler, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon, 10-3. Junior centerfielder Andrew Santomauro went 2-for-3 in the loss and Ari Kaufamn pitched four innings and earned a no-decision in his first-career start.
North Florida Preview
The Ospreys enter the weekend series 10-6 overall with wins over West Virginia, the Citadel, Florida and UCF. Junior Ryan Roberson leads North Florida offensively, batting .369 with 24 hits. The catcher has five doubles, a home run and 12 RBI. Junior outfielder Tyler Marincov leads the Ospreys in runs batted in (19), triples (3) and home runs (3). Freshman RHP Corbin Olmstead works out of the back of the bullpen for North Florida. The rookie has appeared in seven games, making two saves with a 1.08 ERA, while striking out eight.
The three-game weekend series will be the first meeting between Lafayette and North Florida.

The forecast for this weekend will be sunny Friday and Saturday with highs of 72 degrees and 80 degrees, respectively. Sunday will be partly cloudy with a high of 80 degrees and a ten percent chance of rain.
Lafayette senior second baseman Kevin Casey was honorable mention in Patriot League Player of the Week voting this past week. The senior had five hits in 14 at bats last week, scoring a team-high seven runs. Casey had two doubles and two runs batted in to go along with six walks, leading the Leopards to their first two wins of the season. The senior was 2-for-5 against Temple Wednesday afternoon with a run scored.
Lafayette’s game against La Salle on March 20 in Easton, Pa. has been canceled and no makeup date has been announced.
The Leopards will stay on the road next Tuesday to face Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y before returning to Easton, Pa. for their home opener against Penn on March 23.
The Leopards were picked to finish fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, after going 14-37-1 a season ago. Lafayette senior co-captain Kevin Casey garnered Preseason All-Patriot League honors at second base on the League’s inaugural preseason team. Casey hit .330 last season with 17 RBI.
