Fencing Takes Part in Vassar Invitational

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Lafayette fencing team competed at the Vassar Invitational on Sunday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Leopards came away with three victories on the day with the women defeating Hunter College, 17-10, while the men also beat Hunter, 19-8, in addition to trouncing Yeshiva, 21-6.

On the women's side, freshman foil Julia Sheng paced Lafayette with 10 wins while senior captain Alexandra Knobel came away with nine victories.

For the men, four fencers finished with winning records. Senior captain, Eric Luby, led the Leopards by going 14-4 in the Saber event. Freshman saber Jake Burns and junior epee Daniel Robitzski each earned 12 wins, while sophomore David Jennings went 10-8 in the Epee event.

The fencing squad will be back in action this Saturday, Nov. 16, when the team takes part in the MACFA `A' Round Robin in Haverford, Pa. against Cornell, Drew, Haverford, and Rutgers.
