Lafayette’s Season Comes to a Close in PL Tournament

Leopards finish campaign with most wins since 2009 and first tourney appearance since 2012

BOSTON, Mass. –  Lafayette's season came to an end in the elimination round of the Patriot League Tournament on Friday afternoon, dropping a 10-5 decision to No. 2 seed Colgate.

For the second straight day, the Leopards got off to a quick offensive start. Colgate starter Maya Servidio made it easy for the offense in the top of the first, walking the bases loaded with two outs before Katie Harrington and Maggie Klug drew run-scoring walks. After a pitching change, Jessica Tejera and Olivia Catalina each delivered infield singles. Lafayette batted around the order to put four on the board in the first inning.

That lead held through the third inning when the Raiders scored four runs of their own. Three came via a Nora Megenity home run and the final off from a Marina Taveras single that pushed starter Sophia Alvarez-Backus from the game with the score tied at 4-4.

The Raiders took their first and final lead of the game in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Analisa Raffaelli hit a two-run home run and Megenity contributed an RBI-single for the 7-4 advantage.

Lafayette got one back in the bottom half of the fourth. With one out, Caroline Hall (single) and Dani Rosner (walk) reached base to bring the tying run to the plate. Regan Dillon came through with an RBI-single to pull the Leopards within 7-5. That was as close as they could inch, as Colgate scored three more in the seventh inning to close out the game.

Makayla Lecky took the loss, tossing one inning while allowing three runs on two hits with three walks. Marisa Powell did the bulk of the Leopard pitching, holding Colgate to one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts over three innings. Andy Hegarty pitched the final two outs of the game for Lafayette. Alexa Acker collected the win by limiting Lafayette to one run in 2.2 innings before giving way to Kelcie McGraw. She blanked the Leopards over 3.2 innings to garner the save.

Lafayette finished 2026 with 16 wins, its highest season win total since 2009.
