Metzgar Fields
Several Lafayette outdoor sports compete and practice at Metzgar Fields, including cross country, field hockey, baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and softball. Permanent seating for more than 1,000 spectators is available at the baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey venues. Located about three miles northwest of the College Hill campus, the field is part of an 80-acre facility which also contains fields for many of the intramural and recreational sports programs.
The site has hosted a numnber of NCAA, ECAC, and Patriot League championships in recent years, including three rounds of the 1995 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, and the 1991 and 1993 ECAC Division I Field Hockey Championships.
The Herb McCracken Field house contains locker room and storage facilities, plus an air-conditioned training room with two whirlpools, an ultrasound and electrical muschle stimulator unit, and many pieces of rehabilitative equipment.
