Michaela Donohue Honored with Second Patriot League Rookie of the Week Award of the Season

The Los Gatos, Calif. native has played an integral role in Lafayette's remarkable turnaround

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Freshman Michaela Donohue (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) has earned Patriot League Volleyball Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this year after helping Lafayette to a pair of 3-1 wins in the week ending Oct. 24.

Donohue notched her fifth double-double of the year as the Leopards won at Lehigh on Friday, Oct. 22, for Lafayette's first league road win in seven years. She led the team in attack percentage, with 11 kills and only two errors, and posted 15 digs.

The outside hitter registered 21 digs, eight kills and three aces against East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Oct. 20, a win that gave Lafayette (11-10, 3-5 PL) its first 10-win season since 1995. Donohue has recorded 20 or more digs in six matches this season, and hit double-figures in kills on six other occasions.

Donohue is third in the Patriot League with 4.01 digs per game, leading a Leopards defense that paces the conference with 16.2 digs per game. She also ranks ninth in service aces, and has 30 aces against just eight errors to lead the circuit in serving efficiency.

The Los Gatos, Calif. native picked up her first Rookie of the Week award for the week ending Oct. 3, after setting a career-high with 14 kills as Lafayette upset Bucknell, 3-2.

Lafayette will aim for a pair of Patriot League road wins this weekend as the Leopards travel to Colgate and Bucknell.
