EASTON, Pa. - Freshman Samantha Volk has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the League office announced on Monday afternoon. The rookie helped the Leopards win all three matches last week without surrendering a single set.

“She’s a solid young setter with a strong aggressive serve,” assistant coach J.T. Pursel said. “She has a lot to learn, but she runs a fast-paced and deceptive offense.”

The Houston, Texas native ran the Lafayette offense over the weekend as the setter accumulated 85 assists in three matches. Volk had over 30 assists in the final two matches of the weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson (33) and Saint Peter’s (37).

On the defensive side, Volk came up with 13 digs and four blocks for the Leopards. Volk also tallied five aces last week.

Volk and the Leopards look to win their sixth straight match when they host St. Francis (N.Y.) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside Kirby Sports Center.
