Sept. 4, 2012
EASTON, Pa. - Senior co-captain Sarah Frohnapfel was named the Patriot League Volleyball Player of the Week after a 4-0 week, including a first-place finish in the Lafayette College Tournament, the league announced Tuesday.
Frohnapfel, a Stafford, Va. native, recorded a season-high 40 assists in a win against St. Peter’s on Saturday in the morning session, and backed it up in the second match of the day with a 39-assist performance against FDU.
“Sarah’s grown significantly over her career here at Lafayette,” head coach Terri Dadio Campbell said. “She is our vocal leader and the energy she brings has grown infectious over the past few years. She truly wants the ball in key moments and loves to finish a point offensively.”
The Leopards’ setter tallied 34 and 23 assists respectively against St. Francis (N.Y.) (8/28) and Delaware State (8/31) and was selected to the Lafayette College Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Lafayette looks to extend its historic run to six straight wins tonight as it takes on Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. at 7 p.m.
