EASTON, Pa. - Freshman volleyball player Kayly Elmer (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The freshman tallied 77 digs and 58 kills during a weekend in which the Leopards finished 2-2 at the season-opening La Salle Tournament. Teammate Michaela Donohue (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) was named to the league's honor roll.

Elmer had a standout weekend, tallying double-doubles in digs and kills in all four of Lafayette's matches at the La Salle Tournament. On Friday, she recorded a match-best 23 digs against St. Peter's in her first-ever collegiate match and followed that performance with 24 digs against Loyola. She also led the team with 19 kills.

Against UMBC on Saturday, she led both teams in kills with 14 while also contributing a team-high 14 digs. In the final match of the weekend against La Salle, Elmer recorded 10 kills to go along with her 16 digs.

Elmer's 77 digs (5.13 dpg) place her second in the Patriot League, while her 58 kills (3.87 kpg) rank her fourth in the conference.

Donohue averaged 4.13 digs per game and recorded two kill-dig double-doubles. She helped guide the Leopards to a 2-0 record on the first day of the La Salle Tournament when she had 20 digs against St. Peter's and La Salle.

The California native also had a double-double against La Salle with 19 kills to go along with her 20 digs. Currently, she stands second on the Leopards in both digs (62) and kills (42) in four matches.

The Leopards are back in action when they host Kutztown in their home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
