Volleyball Announces 2012 Schedule
July 26, 2012 EASTON, Pa. - Eleven matches at Kirby Sports Center highlight the 2012 women's volleyball schedule that was announced today by Head Coach Terri Dadio Campbell. The Leopards are looking to improve on a season in which they finished 10-17. GoLeopards.com will once again provide live video coverage of all Patriot League home matches. The complete GoLeopards.com fall broadcast schedule will be announced later this summer. "Our preseason schedule is very competitive and will give us the opportunity to develop as a team prior to our Patriot League matches," Dadio Campbell said. "When we step on the court, we will need to execute, minimize our errors and compete at a high level in order to be successful." The Leopards' season begins at home on Aug. 26 with a match against Rider. Lafayette blanked the Broncs last year, 3-0. Lafayette will then head to Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. to play St. Francis before returning home to host the 2012 Lafayette College Tournament on Sept. 1 against Fairleigh Dickinson, Delaware State and St. Peter's. On Sept. 4, the Leopards embark on their first road trip of the 2012 season as they take on Rutgers, La Salle (Sept. 5) and Fordham (Sept. 11) before returning home to Easton for a tri-match on Sept. 15 against Coppin State and St. Francis (N.Y.). A trip to Riverdale, N.Y. on Sept. 19 pits Lafayette against Manhattan. Patriot League play begins on College Hill on Sept. 21-22 with visits from Bucknell and Colgate. After road matches at 2011 Patriot League champion American (Sep. 28) and Navy (Sep. 29), the Leopards return home Oct. 4 for a tilt with Lehigh. The season's longest road swing begins on Oct. 12 in Worcester, Mass. against Holy Cross prior to a trip to Army a day later. The team continues its road schedule the next weekend, facing Patriot League foes Colgate (Oct. 19) and Bucknell (Oct. 20). The Maroon and White complete their non-conference schedule on College Hill on Oct. 23 against NJIT before a final road test at Lehigh on Oct. 26. The regular season wraps up with four consecutive home contests against Navy (Nov. 2), American (Nov. 3), Army (Nov. 9), and Holy Cross (Nov. 10). Following the regular season, the top four Patriot League teams will advance to the 2012 Patriot League Tournament. The event, which is hosted by the top seed, will be held on Nov. 17-18. Lafayette has added five incoming freshmen into the fold for 2012 and returns 12 student-athletes from the 2011 squad led by team captains Sarah Frohnapfel and Kaitlynn Zoller.
