EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette volleyball Head Coach Terri Dadio Campbell announced that five student-athletes will be joining the program for the 2014 season. The class consists of three student-athletes from Pennsylvania, one from California and one from Washington.
“I am really looking forward to having these five young women join our program in August,” Campbell said. “With this class, we filled some holes that will definitely translate to competitiveness on the court. All five of these players are true student-athletes who will excel both in the classroom and on the court.”
Maddie Titus (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic)
At Bethlehem Catholic: Named to the PIAA AA First Team All State in 2012…2012 PIAA District 11 AA First Team All-Star…First Team All-Area in 2012…2011 Capitol Hill Classic 15 Open MVP and Best Setter…Member of the National Honor Society…Carries a 3.86 GPA…Ranks 14 out of 203 in her class.
Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because I want to be a part of the amazing environment that makes Lafayette so special. My first time on campus, I automatically felt welcomed by all of the students and faculty members who I encountered. The volleyball players and coaches have made me feel like a part of the team already.
Tori Smith (Lakewood, Wash./Annie Wright School)
Position: Right Side Hitter
At Annie Wright: Named 2010 Rookie of the Year…Team received a bid to National’s in 2010, 2012 and 2013…Team MVP and captain in 2011…Received the Coach’s Award and was a captain in 2012…Her team finished seventh in the state…Named Team MVP and League MVP as well as a team captain in 2013...Team finished eighth in the state in 2013.
Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because of the opportunities in both neuroscience and chemical engineering. I wanted a smaller school with a volleyball team replete with nice and competitive players, and luckily found that manifested at Lafayette.
Natalie Pisch (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy)
Position: Outside Hitter
At Gwynedd Mercy: Was a three-time All-Catholic Academy League First Team selection…Named to the All-District 1 PIAA First Team two times…Was a 2013 PIAA All-State First Team selection in 2013…Named MVP and team captain her senior year…Board member for the National Honor Society…National Merit Commended Scholar.
Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because it allows me to pursue all of my goals. Lafayette has the perfect balance of strong academics and Division I volleyball.
Elizabeth Walsh (Rockville, Md./Magruder)
Position: Outside Hitter, Middle Blocker
At Magruder: Four-year letterwinner and team captain her senior year…Named team MVP her senior year…Was named to the Gazette First Team in 2013, Second Team in 2012 and honorable mention in 2011…She was a Gatorade Stat Player of the Year nominee in her senior year…All-Metro honorable mention in 2013 and 2012…Played for the Metro American Volleyball club…Her Metro 16s team won the Capitol Hill Classic and she was awarded best attacker trophy…She was a team captain of the Metro 17s and her Metro 18s team qualified for the 18s open at big south…Played on a hand-picked team in an international tournament in China where her team finished fourth.
Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because it has everything I want in a school. I know that it will give me the opportunity to reach my full potential, in both volleyball and in the classroom. Lafayette has the balance I was looking for. I felt at home when I went to Lafayette. The first time I visited campus I didn’t want to leave. Choosing Lafayette didn’t feel like a decision, it felt like a privilege. I felt honored to have the opportunity of attending such a great school.
Katie Kidder (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Notre Dame)
Position: Defensive Specialist, Outside Hitter
At Notre Dame: Was a two-year starter…Helped team to the Final Four in CIF Division 1A her senior season…Named to the second team All-League…Received the Coach’s Award and was voted Most Inspirational by her teammates…Her team won the league title in her freshman and sophomore seasons…Played for Club Troy, ranked in the top 24 in Southern California in Division 1…Member of the track and field team where she ranked in the top 30 for long jump in California…Earned a spot on the All-Academic Team…Received the White House Presidential Gold Service Award for volunteering over 250 hours.
Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because of the opportunity of forming close relationships with the professors because of the smaller class sizes, the friendliness of the students, the beautiful campus, and the opportunity to play for Coach Campbell with the amazing group of teammates.
