Volleyball Participates in Read Across America
March 5, 2013
EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette women’s volleyball team participated in Read Across American on Monday afternoon as four members of the team, along with head coach Terri Dadio Campbell, traveled to Farmersville Elementary School in Bethlehem, Pa. to read to third- and fifth-grade classes.
Freshmen Brianne Giangiobbe and Leslie Tintle, along with Dadio Campbell, each read to a fifth-grade class, while sophomores Michelle Woodworth and Aidan Guilfoyle read to third graders.
“Having our players involved in community service activities is one of our goals in the spring," Dadio Campbell said. "It was a mutually rewarding experience for our girls to participate in the Read Across America program.”
Tintle read to Mrs. Jennifer Eilers’ fifth-grade class, who ironically taught her at Farmersville when Tintle attended elementary school there. Additionally, Eilers is now the teacher of Dadio Campbell’s son, Casey.
Mrs. Regina Braun’s fifth-grade class was another one chosen to be read to by the Leopards. Braun is a former volleyball player at Lafayette from the Class of 1995.
The Lafayette volleyball team finished up its 2012 season at 9-17 overall and went 2-12 in Patriot League play.
