WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Army on Saturday afternoon. Four Leopards recorded double figures in digs but it was not enough to overcome a strong effort from the Black Knights.

Army recorded 30-26, 30-23 and 30-28 wins over Lafayette, who fell to 13-16 on the season and 4-8 in Patriot League play.

Seniors Michaela Donohue and Karla Barbiche, junior Megan Carter and sophomore Kari Horn each reached double figures in digs for Lafayette. Freshman Kayly Elmer and Donohue led Lafayette with eight kills each, while senior Maura Kelly chipped in six. Carter also led Lafayette with 27 assists on the afternoon.

Army jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Leopards fought their way back to a 6-6 tie after a kill by Elmer. Lafayette would take a four point lead (13-9) but Army chipped away at the lead and tied the game at 17. Lafayette would regain the lead but the Black Knights again mounted a comeback and went on to the 30-26 win.

Lafayette would lead just once in the second game. Army held a 12-5 edge almost midway through but Lafayette tied the game 16. Unfortunately, Army earned the next point and never again trailed in the game as the Black Knights secured the 30-23 win.

The third game was another battle. Army took a big lead early at 11-4 but as they did all afternoon, the Leopards continued to put pressure on the Black Knights. Lafayette found itself trailing by just three (26-23) late in the game and then scored three-straight points to tie the match at 26 with the equalizer coming on a kill by Kelly. The Black Knights scored four of the final six points, however, to escape with the victory.

The Leopards return home to host non-conference opponent East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
