BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After dropping back-to-back five-set matches, the Lafayette volleyball team fell in straight sets to Lehigh Friday evening in Bethlehem, Pa.

Senior co-captain Kaitlynn Zoller and freshman Brianne Giangiobbe led the Leopard attack with six kills apiece, while senior co-captain Sarah Frohnapfel notched 16 assists.

Freshman Lauren Pisauro led the defense with 16 digs and junior Karissa Ciliento added three blocks at the net.

The Mountain Hawks came out in the first set on a tear, winning 10 of the first 13 points to take an early 10-3 lead that forced a timeout from head coach Terri Dadio Campbell. Out of the timeout, Lafayette went on a run, forcing a Lehigh timeout after pulling within three at 16-13. Lehigh proved too much, though, taking the set 25-18.

Lehigh jumped out to an early lead in the second as well, but again the Leopards shifted the momentum tying it at 10, 20 points in. After a Lehigh timeout, that momentum swayed back in the Hawks favor as they took the second, 25-18.

In the third, it was back-and-forth early as the Leopards tried to make it a match. Three straight attack errors from Lehigh forced a timeout with the score tied up at six apiece. Out of the timeout, Lehigh ripped off 12 straight to take an 18-6 lead. The Mountain Hawks would go on to take the set and the match, 25-17.

Next up for Lafayette is a meeting with Navy back in Kirby Sports Center on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
