HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team continued to struggle on the road as the Leopards lost 3-0 to Colgate on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton. Lafayette lost in straight sets, 13-25, 19-25, 11-25.
With the loss, Lafayette drops to 11-9 on the season and 2-5 in league play while the Raiders improve to 9-10 overall, including a 6-1 mark in Patriot League action.
After trailing from start to finish in the opening set, the Leopards hung with the Raiders for the first part of the second set. They pulled ahead 8-6 on a Racibarskas kill but Colgate tied it at eight-all on a Racibarskas attacking error. The Raiders went ahead for good on the next point and eventually put the Leopards away in a 25-19 decision.
Lafayette continued to struggle in the third and ultimately final set. Like the second set, the Leopards briefly took a slim lead (4-3) but could not hold off Colgate as the Raiders surged ahead and won a 14-point decision.
Lafayette is back in action with two more Patriot League road matches next weekend. The Leopards face Navy on Friday at 7 p.m. and then travel to American for a 4 p.m. match on Saturday.
