WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Patriot League opponent American on Friday night in Washington, D.C. Sophomores Katrina Racibarskas and Kayly Elmer led the team with five kills apiece.

The loss was the Leopards' second in league play this season. Senior co-captain Megan Carter led the team with seven digs and 10 assists while also adding in two service aces for Lafayette (6-10, 1-2). All five of Lafayette's freshmen--Mary Cunning, Andrea Duvall, Christy Mebust, Ally Taylor and Alana Taylor--saw action against the Eagles.

The Leopards dropped 25-12, 25-10 and 25-15 decisions to the Eagles, who have now won 15 straight over Lafayette. American improves to 9-6 overall and 3-0 in conference action.

Lafayette continues Patriot League play tomorrow with a 4 p.m. match at Navy.
