Philadelphia – The Leopards improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Farleigh Dickinson on Sunday morning. The Leopards won 25-14, 25-14 and 31-29. The Maroon and White were led by junior Katy Rooney with 11 kills.

Junior Danielle Towslee contribute seven kills, while senior Molly Belcher and freshman Jet Manzi chipped in with 5 a piece. Michelle Woodworth led the Leopards with 12 digs followed by Manzi’s 10. Belcher also handed out 27 assists to lead Lafayette.

With the first game tied at eight, the Leopards opened up a three point advantage on a pair of kills by Towslee and sophomore Brianne Giangiobbe. The Leopards pushed the lead to 19-14, before rattling off the next six points, on a Ciliento kill and ace, to take game one.

In the second game, Lafayette used a pair of five-point spurts with the score tied at ten and then again with a 15-12 lead. With the score tied at ten, Rooney notched three straight kills to push the lead to five. Three straight kills from Manzi, Rooney and Belcher pushed the advantage to eight, 20-12. The Leopards closed out the game with two more kills from Rooney and Manzi.

The third game saw the Leopards battle from behind. Down 17-13, the Leopards won the next six points on kills from Towlsee and Rooney and a pair of aces from Towslee. The Maroon and White found themselves tied at 26 after a Belcher Kill. The teams went back and forth until the Leopards finished the Knights off, 31-29.

The Leopards will be back in action on Friday night when they take on Wright State in their opening match of the Lafayette College Tournament.
