PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team (2-0) opened the season on Friday at the La Salle Tournament in Philadelphia and finished the first day of the tournament with a 2-0 record. The Leopards posted a come from behind win over St. Peter's and went on to defeat Loyola 3-1 in the second match of the day.

The Leopards rebounded from a 0-2 start against St. Peter's to win their final three matches and secure the season-opening victory. Lafayette led the Peahens in several key categories, including a 70-61 edge in kills and a 67-51 advantage in assists.

Senior Michaela Donohue (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) had a match-high 19 kills, followed closely behind by Katrina Racibarskas' (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) 17. Racibarskas finished with a hitting percentage of .333 to lead the Leopards. Donohue added in 20 digs against the St. Peter's while freshman Kayly Elmer (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) recorded a match-best 23 digs. Junior Megan Carter's (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser) 36 assists were also a match-high.

Lafayette's momentum carried through to its second match of the day as the Leopards won 3-1 over Loyola. Kari Horn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) finished the match with 37 digs, the highest total in either of the team's matches. Elmer followed her 23-dig performance in the first match with 24 more against Loyola. She also led the team in kills with 19.

The Leopards continue competition at the La Salle Tournament on Saturday when they face UMBC at noon, followed by their final match against host school La Salle at 7:00 p.m.
