Women's Track Team Competes at Virginia Commonwealth's Ram Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men and women's track teams traveled south for spring break and competed in the Ram Invitational at Virginia Commonwealth this weekend.
The women did a majority of scoring in the field events.
Jackie Bingham notched a pair of second place finishes in the hammer and the javelin with throws of 144'4" and 127'6 ½" respectively. Also placing in the javelin were freshman Tara Weidaw and junior Jerri Pelletier. Weidaw placed fifth with a throw of 115'10", and Pelletier finished sixth at 113' ½".
Seniors Colleen Becker and Kim Miller also finished well for Lafayette. Miller notched a fifth place finish in the Pole Vault after clearing 10 feet even. Becker jumped 35'9 ½" in the triple jump for sixth place.
On the track Lafayette had two runners place in the top-10 in their respective events. Rian Landers crossed the tape in ninth place in the 3000 M run in 10:35.33. Jennifer White earned a fifth place finish in the 100 M hurdles in a time of 15.69. White also added a 12th place finish in the high jump, clearing 4'9".
Lafayette hosts a Quad Meet on Saturday. Field events start at 11 a.m.
