Women's Tennis Drops Conference Match to Bucknell

Easton, Pa. – The Lafayette College women’s tennis team entertained Bucknell University Sunday in a Patriot League match at Sullivan Courts, but fell by a score of 6-1.

The Leopards’ only win of the afternoon came in fifth singles where Tori Almeida took the first set 6-0 before Bucknell’s Jorie Fox was forced to retire due to injury. Caroline Nixon dropped the first singles match to Elena Vidvascu 6-0, 6-1. Jordyn Spellberg was ousted in the second singles contest in straight sets by Maria Cioffi, while Michele Urbinati bested Rocine Moschella 6-2, 6-1 in third singles. After losing the first set 6-3, Catherine Senopoulos forced a third set with Stephanie Pino, but ultimately went down 3-6, 7-5, 10-2. At No. 6, Amanda Kusnierz was beaten by Alyssa McAndrew 6-4, 6-4.

Bucknell swept doubles action with Vidvascu and Cioffi overtaking Nixon and Senopoulos 8-2, Pino combining with Lydia Colvin  to top Moschella and Almeida 8-2. In the third match,  Christie Schneider and Elizabeth Morgan were victorious over Kusnierz and Lauren Tracy, 8-4.

The Leopards wrap up the regular season today, when conference rival Colgate visits Sullivan Courts. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
