Women's Tennis Downed by Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lafayette women’s tennis program was swept by Navy at the Brigade Sports Complex in Annapolis, Md. over the weekend.

Caroline Nixon fell 6-2, 6-0 in the first singles while Rocine Moschella was bested 6-0, 6-2 in the second match. In the third singles, Jordyn Spellberg lost 6-0, 6-1 and Catherine Senopoulos was knocked off 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth. Tori Almeida was shutout 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth singles match and in the finale, Lauren Tracy was swept in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, Nixon and Senopoulos was ousted 8-4 while the pair of Moschella and Almeida fell 8-0 in the second doubles. In the third doubles match, the duo of Tracy and Gabby Montes kept it close but ultimately fell 8-5 to their Navy counterparts.

The Leopards return to the court Tuesday to square off against rival Lehigh in Bethlehem. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
