WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's tennis team got its first taste of conference competition this weekend with matches against Army and Holy Cross on Saturday.

Lafayette opened the day with Army, but the Black Knights swept the Leopards, 7-0. Although Allie Seranko and Caitlin Gordon emerged with an 8-6 win in the No. 2 doubles against Birdie Burke and Annie Hang, Lafayette was never able to get into a rhythm following the victory.

The Leopards returned to the courts later that day to take on Holy Cross and Lafayette was narrowly defeated, 4-3. Rachel Rohinsky pulled out double victories with a win in the No. 4 singles over Hailee Lange (6-4, 6-4) and an 8-1 doubles win with partner Seranko versus Emily Marr and Ivette Konopka.

Sarah Sykes claimed the No. 3 singles with 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 sets and Gordon cruised to a win in the No. 5 singles, winning her sets 6-1, 6-2.

The Leopards (5-7) return home for back-to-back matches with a Tuesday contest lined up against St. Peter's at 4 p.m. and a Saturday match against Colgate at 10 a.m.
