Lafayette Downs Slippery Rock in Hilton Head
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lafayette women’s tennis team won all three doubles matches and split the singles tilts to defeat Slippery Rock on Sunday afternoon in its spring break opener in Hilton Head, S.C.
Meredith Block and Samantha Snyder each pulled off impressive comeback singles victories after dropping each of their first sets by 6-0 scores. Alexa Cooke was the other winner in the sixth singles spot, while the Maroon and White captured all three doubles matches to secure the team win.
“It was a great win against my alma mater and a good first match for the ladies on the trip,” head coach Ralph Van Ormer said. “Sweeping the doubles was big as our freshmen duo of Cooke and Snyder finished them off.”
Below are the full results from Sunday’s match. The Leopard women are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Savannah, Ga. for a meeting with Savannah State at 2 p.m.
