Women's Tennis Defeats St. Peter's

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's tennis team nabbed its first win of the spring season Saturday with a 6-1 victory over St. Peters at the Northwood Racquet Club.

Jordyn Spellberg fell in straight sets to Adina Halagian 6-0, 6-2 at the first singles. Caroline Nixon topped Ivana Grbelja 6-1, 6-0 to pull the match to one win each. Rocine Moschella took the number three match in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 over Elena Puigventos. In the number four slot, Catherine Senopolous took Lucia Radovic to three sets, winning the match 6-4, 2-6, 10-4. Tori Almeida beat Vanessa Vogel 6-1, 6-1 in the number five matchup.

Lafayette claimed both doubles matches. Nixon and Senopoulos teamed up to defeat Halagian and Radovic 8-7. Moschella and Almeida topped Grbelja and Puigventos 8-2.

Lafayette returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Fairfield.
