Leopards Net First Win of Spring Season in Brooklyn

Feb. 25, 2018

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lafayette women’s tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season on Sunday morning, dispatching St. Francis Brooklyn by a 4-3 score.

Freshman Cecelia Lesnick and sophomores Meredith Block and Grace Conrad all won both of their matches on the afternoon. Block and Conrad teamed up for the 6-3 win at second doubles, while Lesnick paired with classmate Samantha Snyder for the decisive 6-0 victory in the top singles spot.

The deciding match was one of the toughest points of the day as Block knocked off the Terriers’ Sara Stankovic in three sets at fourth singles. Block won the first set in a tiebreaker, but dropped the second by a 6-1 score. She was able to pull out the third, 10-6, for the winning point.

Below are the full results from Sunday’s match. Lafayette returns to Northwood Racquet Club on Saturday, welcoming Siena at 4 p.m.
