JERSEY CITY, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's swimming and diving team opened its dual meet season with a 143-78 win over St. Peter's on Tuesday.

Lafayette was led by sophomore Carrie Abildgaard (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) who took home two first place titles in the 200 IM (2:20.55) and 200 back (2:19.45) events. Junior co-captain Nancy Haystrand (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) put forth a strong effort, winning the 200 fly (2:11.84) event and taking third in the 200 free (2:05.43).

Sophomore Maura Dailey (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township) was strong for the Leopards, taking first place in the 1000 free (11:22.43) and third in the 100 free (58.06) events.

In the diving events, Lafayette's talented trio of sophomore Alana Anzalone (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary), senior Claire Kesicke (North Salem, N.Y./John Jay) and freshman Cristin MacDonald (Glendora, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) swept both the one- and three- meter events. Anzalone took first in the three-meter event followed by MacDonald and Kesicke, while MacDonald placed first in the one-meter followed by Kesicke and Anzalone.
