Women's Swimming Defeated by Navy and Rider

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's swimming team fell to Navy and Rider on Saturday in Annapolis. The Mids outscored Lafayette 175-123, while Rider picked up a 169-131 victory over Lafayette.
Lafayette freshman Liz Helwig (Basking Ridge, N.J./Madison) took first place in the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter IM, second in the 200-meter freestyle and joined Michelle Oswald (Timonium, Md./Carver Center), Jen Totten (Mantua, N.J./West Deptford) and Erin Rosensteel (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) on the fourth-place 400-meter medley relay team.
Freshman Sara Berberich (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) claimed a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-meter butterfly and 400-meter freestyle, while senior Alana Anzalone (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) took third in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
Also finishing second for the Leopards was the 400-meter freestyle relay team of Rosensteel, Maura Dailey (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township), Allison Paul (Southampton, N.J./Lenape) and Erin Malone (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township).
The Leopards had a strong showing in the 100-meter backstroke, where Oswald, Paul and Malone finished third, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Lafayette is off until Nov. 4, when the Leopards visit St. Peter's at 6 p.m.
