EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's swimming team opened its season as the runner-up in the Lafayette Invitational Saturday at Ruef Natatorium. The Leopards went head-to-head against Seton Hall, St. Peter's and Kutztown in the 34-event co-ed meet.

Freshman Jayme MacKinnon (Mineola, N.Y./Carle Place)made her presence known in her first meet for Lafayette, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 20.40. Sophomore Nancy Haystrand (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a final mark of 2:13.47.

The Leopard swimmers next take the pool for the Maroon and White Intrasquad/Alumni Meet on Oct. 28 while the divers will travel to Delaware for the Diving Invitational that same day.
