Lafayette Swimming Races to Day Two of Patriot League Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette swimming teams competed at day two of the Patriot League Championships with Greg Van Volkenburg earning the best finish for the Leopards, with a third place in the 100 backstroke. Lucas Kimmel finished 14th in the same event.

Chris Grabowski turned in a fourth-place performance and re-set his own school record with a time of 4:00.46. Kris Klein swam to an eighth-place spot in the 400 IM, while Daniele Menard and Brenda Thayer finished 12th and 13th in the women's race.

Jakub Pritz placed ninth in the 200 free event and Alison Scudder was eighth in the 100 backstroke and Jen Totten swam to a 14th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

In the relays, the 800 free relay team of Grabowski, Kimmel, Van Volkenburg and Pritz finished fourth.

After two days of competition, the Lafayette men are sixth in the team standings, while the women are in eighth place. Patriot League Championships will conclude on Saturday.
