Hamilton, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's swimming and diving team completed competition last night at the Patriot League Championships. Hosted at Colgate University's Lineberry Natatorium, the three-day event saw 17 pool records in 36 swimming events.

In the team standings, the Patriot League crown went to Lehigh for the second straight year with 637.5 points. Bucknell (601 pts.), Navy (594), Army(590) finished second, third and fourth, while Colgate (414), Lafayette (300.50) and Holy Cross (260) rounded out the field of seven league schools.

The 400 meter freestyle relay team including freshmen Maura Dailey (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township), Liz Tutschek (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes), sophomore Erika Hoke (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity B.V.M.), and junior Leah Gruenke (Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) took home sixth place with a time of 3:43.23. Hoke also placed 11th in the 200 backstroke event with a time of 2:12.23, while teammate Carrie Abildgaard finished in 14th place at 2:13.87.

Individual achievements were recorded by sophomore Nancy Haystrand (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) in the 200 fly who took fourth place with a time of 2:10.98. Also, sophomores Brenda Thayer (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) and Ellen Rogers (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) placed 14th and 18th in the 1650 meter freestyle event with times of 18:15.09 and 18:56.85, respectively.

The Leopards will compete in the ECAC Championships at Gloucester County Institute of Technology this Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 22-24.
