Softball Adds Two New Assistant Coaches
Sept. 19, 2012
EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette softball team has added two new faces to its coaching staff. Brittany Spencer and Chris La Tempa will both join the Leopards for the 2013 season.
Spencer spent her collegiate career playing at Longwood University (Farmville, Va.) were she was a starting pitcher and saw time at first base. She comes to Lafayette from First Colonial High School (Virginia Beach, Va.) where she served as a pitching coach. Spencer will fill the same role for the Leopards, in addition to working with the catchers.
"I am really looking forward to working with Brittany this year," head coach Meaghan Asselta said. "Her knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to adapt to each one of our girls has been nothing but refreshing to see."
Spencer, a Virginia Beach native, graduated from Longwood University in 2010 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Chris La Tempa will also be joining the Leopards as an assistant focusing on both the outfield and offensive strategies. La Tempa graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette College in 2010 with Honors in American Studies, and is entering his third year as Assistant Director of Admissions at Lafayette. He is also a first-year student advisor.
"His passion for this sport has been contagious not only within the coaching staff but more importantly to every member of this year's team" Asselta said.
