Softball Lands Pair on Academic All-League Squad

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette softball sophomores Bryn Gornick and Allison Brown have been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be a sophomore or who play key roles on their team while maintaining a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.

Gornick finished second on the team in hitting with a .243 batting average while leading the team with 16 RBI. The pitcher/utility player recorded 26 hits, including three doubles and grand slam. Against Patriot League foes, she hit at a .265 clip, with 13 hits and knocked in seven runs. The Villa Park, Calif. native made 18 appearances in the circle, seven in league play, tossing 44.1 innings en route to a 3-2 record with a 3.32 ERA. While majoring in Chemical Engineering, she boasts a 3.30 GPA and was also selected to the 2013 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Brown warranted a spot on the team with a 3.31 GPA as a Mathematics major. A 2013 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, she set the pace for the Leopards at the dish in league action with a .310 batting average in 18 games played. The Northern Valley Regional High School grad belted a pair of home runs with three to highlight her .221 batting average that included 23 hits, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored. Hailing from Harrington Park, N.J., Brown saw action at first base, outfield, and as the designated player in 2014.
