EASTON, Pa. - Meaghan Asselta has resigned her position as the head coach of the Lafayette softball program effective immediately.

Asselta, who was in the midst of her third season, compiled a 30-100 overall mark and a 14-34 clip in Patriot League play, including one Patriot League Tournament appearance.

Current assistant coach Brittany Spencer will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Following discussions with then Coach Meaghan Asselta concerning its direction, Athletic Director Bruce McCutcheon decided to make a change in the leadership of the program and Coach Asselta agreed to resign.

"I wish the Lafayette softball program well going forward," Ms. Asselta said. Lafayette College thanks Meaghan for her efforts and wishes her success in all of her future endeavors.

A national search for Asselta's replacement will begin immediately.
