Softball Renews Rivalry with Lehigh

Lafayette takes on Lehigh in a weekend series in Bethlehem, Pa. The two squads will play in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. The teams will wrap up their series on Sunday with the finale scheduled to begin at noon.
Saturday’s forecast for Bethlehem calls for 80 percent chance of rain and a high of 51 degrees. Sunday’s weather features a high of 45 degrees and 70 percent chance of precipitation.
With the impending rainfall for Saturday, the games have been moved up. Game one for Saturday will now be played at 9:30 a.m. with game two to follow afterwards.
The Mountain Hawks enter the weekend series 11-10 overall and are currently riding a seven-game winning streak. Morgan Decker leads Lehigh in batting average (.404), home runs (three) and RBI (21), while starting in all 21 games. Alexis Watanabe (.347 avg.) has collected 26 hits to pace the Mountain Hawks offense. In the circle, Christine Campbell has pitched a team-leading 45.1 innings and has a team-low 2.01 earned run average. Ashley Quigley boasts a 2.57 ERA in 11 appearances, including six starts.
Victoria Vergona leads the Leopards in batting with a .306 average. She has collected 11 hits on the season including one triple and one home run. Kristen Berger has a team-high 12 base knocks and nine RBI and is one of three members on the Maroon & White to start in all 15 games. In the circle, Melissa Robinson has started eight games for Lafayette, working 48.1 innings. She has posted a 2-6 record with a 4.78 ERA.
Moving Up the All-Time Lists
Melissa Robinson has moved up the all-time charts in her senior season on College Hill. Robinson has moved into second place in appearances with 101. She also finds herself in second place in both games started (92) and innings pitched (612.2). The Philadelphia, Pa. native has moved into fourth all-time in career strikeouts with 251.
The Leopards return to action in a non-conference doubleheader against Temple on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
