EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette softball team closed out its 2010 season on Sunday afternoon at Metzgar Fields. The Leopards dropped their first game 4-2 and got shut out in the second game 7-0, finishing 15-33, 4-16 for the season.
Lafayette picked up its two runs in the opening inning of the first game. Stacey Dorn got up to bat with the bases loaded and was forced to walk bringing senior Kasey Karr in for her 33rd run of the season. Following Dorn, was another walk by Stacey Kushner bringing Kristin Garganio around for the second run.
Colgate (25-19, 8-10) came back with two runs of its own when Emmie Dolfi singled and picked up two RBI. The final Raider runs came in the fifth inning off a Nicole Siedhof double to pick up two RBI.
Karr pitched all six innings in her final game as a Leopard, giving up four runs off six hits and striking out two batters.
In the second game, Colgate put the first points on the board with two runs in the third inning. The Raiders added another three runs, all off homers, in the fourth and two in the fifth picking up their eighth league win.
Garganio went 3-for-2 behind the plate while pitcher Ali Henry pitched four innings in the loss. She gave up five runs while relief pitcher Christine Hilcken pitched the final two innings with two runs.
This weekend closes out the 2010 softball season. The postponed Rider game will not be made up.
Karr closed out her career with 43 wins and 378 strike-outs.
