Maroon and White Offense Held to Four Hits vs. Morgan State
BALTIMORE, Md. – The bats remained quiet for the Leopards in their second game of the day at the Coppin State Eagle Classic, coming up with four hits in a 5-0 loss to Morgan State on Saturday afternoon.
The game, which was played on Morgan State’s campus, started with the Bears scoring three runs in the home half of the second. Damali Young singled in two and the other scored on a sac fly. The hosts extended the lead to 4-0 in the third with another sac fly.
Lafayette had its chances, stranding two runners in the fourth while leaving the bases loaded in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the inning, Morgan State (4-7) extended the margin to 5-0 on Jalian Young’s RBI-single.
MSU pitcher Amy Begg retired the Leopards in order in the sixth and seventh to push the final to 5-0. She struck out four and allowed four hits over seven innings. Alexis Randall (1-7) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits over two innings. Hannah Cook tossed the final four frames, surrendering one unearned run on four hits.
The Leopards (1-11) play Hartford on Sunday at 9 a.m.
