She spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, DeSales University. Schultz made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament as a player and coach and ranks in the top 15 at DeSales in numerous statistical categories including games played (157), at-bats (405), hits (116), doubles (23), RBIs (71) and put-outs (780). She was SeSales' starting catcher all four years of her career, earning All-Freedom Conference First-Team honors her final three seasons.
The Lehigh Valley native attended Parkland High School where she helped guide her team to LVIAC and District 11 championships in 2004 and 2005.
Schultz graduated from DeSales in 2011 with a degree in both marketing and management.
"We are gaining a quality young coach to the program with local ties," Varner said. "Her ability to work directly with our catchers as well as bring a different perspective to pitching will be a great asset. We are looking forward to her energy and excitement on the field."
