The Lafayette women's soccer program recently received a National Soccer Coaches Association of America College Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization on Dec. 2. Eligible programs must have earned a collective grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.
Head Coach Mick Statham’s club posted a 3.35 GPA in 2010-11 and produced 17 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selections. Of those 17 selections, Seniors Meredith McCann and Gina Milone each posted 4.0 grade-point averages.
On the field, Lafayette is coming off one of its best seasons in school history. The team posted a 9-5-2 overall record, the most wins since 2001, and earned the number two seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The Leopards also enjoyed their best home record ever at 6-0-0 and Patriot League mark at 4-2-1.
Lafayette was one of the 154 institutions across all levels of collegiate competition to garner an NSCAA College Team Academic Award for both its men's and women's soccer programs.
