EASTON, Pa. - Junior Lauren Smedley has been named the BRINE Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for Oct. 24-30. The award comes following her performance against Army, in which she made 10 saves in a scoreless draw.

The Hamilton, N.J. native earned her eighth shutout of the season, tying the mark she set in 2010 for the most in school history. The clean sheet is also the 20^th of her career, which ties her for eighth all-time in Patriot League play. She has backstopped Lafayette to its first Patriot League Tournament appearance since 2001 and the best League finish in school history. Smedley, a Neuroscience major, picks up her second weekly award of the season.

"Lauren's performance yesterday was one worthy of a top class goalkeeper," head coach Mick Statham said. "She was commanding and took pressure off of us when she was called upon. She is one of the very best in the country in my opinion and still has more time to develop. Her teammates think the world of her, and it's nice to have a big personality in the locker room to go with the big talent."

Second seeded Lafayette takes on the third seeded Navy Mids in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament on Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. The event is being played in Hamilton, N.Y. at Colagte's Van Doren Field.
