NEWARK, Del. - Lafayette women's soccer sophomore defender Kim Sorace and freshman midfielder Julia Bell have been named to the Blue Hen Classic all-tournament team, held over the weekend at the University of Delaware.

Head coach Mick Statham was impressed by energy both Sorace and Bell gave to the squad during both Leopard contests this weekend.

"Kim had to switch positions after the first two minutes against Delaware because of Jenny's ankle injury and performed at a very high level all weekend," Statham said.

"Her leadership and organizational skills were outstanding. Julie covered an awful lot of ground all weekend I think in the Towson game was probably our best player, particularly in the second half where she showed a great spirit and ambition to do well."

Sorace, a Biology major from Highland Mills, N.Y. has seen important minutes in all three Leopard contests while Bell, an Economics major from Holland, Pa. has been in the starting lineup for the first three games of 2008.

The squad now turns its attention to a Friday afternoon battle with preseason NEC favorite Monmouth before Sunday's home-opener against Wagner on Sunday.
