EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team returned to College Hill on Saturday, marking the start of preseason camp for the squad, which opens its season on Aug. 17 at UMBC. The Leopards will play one scrimmage prior to the season opener, when they travel to Iona on Aug 12 for a 1 p.m. kick off.

Led by 2012 team captains, Lauren Smedley and Allison Stone, Lafayette is looking to improve upon its breakout 2011 campaign when it went 6-0-0 at home and finished as the Patriot League's No. 2 overall seed. The Maroon and White return seven starters this season as well as welcoming seven newcomers.

Meetings are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday, prior to Lafayette's first training session at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex at 6:30 p.m. Additional training sessions are set for each day leading up to the tune-up with Iona.

The 2012 Patriot League women's soccer preseason poll will be announced on Aug. 16 in addition to the League's inaugural Preseason All-Patriot League Team and Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
