EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette Women’s Soccer Head Coach Mick Statham has announced his captains for the 2014 season. Rising seniors Jaclyn Giordano and Alex Reisinger will take on the leadership roles as Lafayette looks to return to postseason play following a two-year hiatus.
“I think in Jaclyn and Alex we have two players that the team are fully behind,” Statham said of his two captains. “They are both good players and great students who set a good example for the youngsters. Jaclyn trains like she plays, at 100 percent speed of actions. Her work ethic is well known and it sets a good standard for our sessions. Alex has beautiful technique and we like our players to get on the ball and she is the gold standard for that.”
Giordano enters the 2014 campaign after earning Third Team All-Patriot League accolades and a place on the Academic All-Patriot League Team as a junior. The striker led Lafayette in goals (5) and points (12) and was tied for fourth in the Patriot League with three game-winning goals. As an Economics major, Giordano carries a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average.
Reisinger played 14 games and made 13 starts last year before an injury ended her season prematurely. A staple on Lafayette’s back line, she has played in 47 games over her first three seasons and was a Second Team All-Patriot League choice following her freshman year. Reisinger owns a 3.57 overall GPA as an Economics and International Affairs double major.
