Women’s Soccer Adds Seven to Class of 2022

EASTON, Pa. – Head coach Mick Statham of the Lafayette women’s soccer program announced the addition of seven new faces to the team on Wednesday afternoon as part of National Signing Day. Ariana Aliprantis, Katie Butler, Sarah Connolly, Riley Dowd, Lindie Gibbs, Sophia Hudson and Julia Moran will join the Leopards as the program’s Class of 2022.

#12 - Ariana Aliprantis (Manhasset, NY/ Manhasset High School)

At Manhasset High School: Made varsity soccer as an 8th grader…Four- year varsity starter…Conference champions in 2015… All conference player in 2016…Scholar Athlete (’15)...ODP-Region 1 ('11, '12, '13, '14, ’15)… ODP Region 1 Agropoli Cup Champions in Italy (’13)... ODP Region 1 Regional team (’15)…Member of East Meadow Soccer Club ECNL…Four-year Key Club member (community service)...Exemplars Honor Society (’16) … Four-year high honor roll.

Why Lafayette? When I first visited Lafayette, I immediately fell in love with the school. The warming and welcoming atmosphere is what made me feel right at home. This school gives me the opportunity to play competitive soccer at the division 1 level as well as obtain a challenging education. I am so excited to spend my four years of college here!

#47 - Katie Butler (Westfield, NJ/ Westfield High School)

Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because of its strong academic reputation along with the opportunity to play for an established Division 1 soccer program. The first time I walked on campus I knew Lafayette was the place for me. I anxiously await taking the field with my teammates and becoming a Leopard. 

#19 - Sarah Connolly (Canton, MA, Canton High School)

At Canton High School: 2 year Captain and 4 year starter at Canton High School… Hockomock League All Star… Eastern Massachusetts All Star… Team MVP at Canton High School… 4 year starter for FC Boston Scorpions…ECNL Player to watch… Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic… 2 year member of National Honors Society & Spanish National Honors Society… Elmira College Key Award… 4 year Honor Roll.

Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette College because of the school’s vast science opportunities, competitive soccer program, and for the positive sense of community. I can’t wait to be a Leopard next year!

Why Lafayette? I chose Lafayette because it was the perfect fit for me in all aspects. Lafayette has the outstanding academics I was looking for in a college and a competitive Division 1 Soccer program. I immediately felt welcomed from the moment I stepped on campus. I am so excited to call such an amazing community home for the next four years! Roll Pards!

#28 - Lindie Gibbs (Aldie, VA/John Champe High School)

At John Champe High School: Varsity Starter (9,10,11)... First Team All-Conference (9,10,11)... All-Region (9,11)... Honorable Mention All-State ('17)... Varsity Scholar (9,10,11,12)... National Honor Society (11,12)...Spanish Honor Society (10,11,12)... McLean ECNL (10,11,12).

Why Lafayette? I knew Lafayette was the right place for me the second I stepped on campus. The overall impression I got form the school was so comforting and I knew I would want to spend the next four years of my life playing soccer and furthering my education right there in Easton. Lafayette has the perfect balance of academic and athletics that I was looking for in a school and I couldn’t be more excited to begin my journey.

#23 - Sophia Hudson (Pittsburgh, PA, Franklin Regional)

At Franklin Regional: Four-year varsity starter… Junior and Senior captain… Selected for All-WPIAL (’16 &’17)…Selected to attend the 2016 WPIAL Summit on Sportsmanship… Selection for ODP Region 1 Pool & International trip (’17)… Started and played for Arsenal FC of PA Premier Pride (’14-’17)… Started and played for Century FC (’17-’18)… Member of National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, and Science National Honors Society… Received Highest Honors with Distinction all years of high school.

Why Lafayette? I knew Lafayette was the school for me the minute I stepped on campus.  The school is beautiful and provides me with great opportunities, both athletically and academically.  I’m ecstatic to be a Leopard, and can’t wait to call Lafayette my home for the next 4 years!

#13 - Julia Moran (Whitehouse Station, N.J. / Hunterdon Central)

At Hunterdon Central:  Four year starting midfielder at PDA, one of the top ranked clubs in the country… 2016 undefeated U16 ECNL national champion…2014 ECNL national semifinalist with PDA…2016, 2015 ECNL northeast conference champion…2013 US Club Soccer national champion…Top Drawer Soccer nationally ranked midfielder…2x Top Drawer Tournament standout player…2017/18 Inaugural PDA/Sky Blue US Soccer development academy team…4 years on the high honor roll… Member of National Honor Society along with Math, Spanish, and History Honor Societies…all honors and AP level classes in high school.

Why Lafayette? Lafayette fit everything that I had wanted in a school plus so much more. I was extremely impressed in how it offered both impressive academics and a competitive division one athletic program. Once I stepped onto the beautiful and inviting atmosphere on campus, I knew that Lafayette was the school for me. I cannot wait to call Lafayette my home for the next four years!
