Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision at Holy Cross

Worcester, Mass.- (www.lafayette.edu) - Holy Cross sophomore Casey Boland scored the game-winning goal at the 82:20 mark as the Lafayette women's soccer team fell to Holy Cross 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
The teams played 45 minutes of scoreless soccer into intermission. The Crusaders outshot the Leopards by an 8-3 margin in first half total shots. Lafayette junior goalkepeer Mary Kate Erdman made four saves and Holy Cross freshman goalie Jessica Stone stopped three shots.
The game's only goal came when Boland grabbed a rebound from a shot by junior Meighan Kelly and found the back of the net. It was her fifth goal on the season to lead Holy Cross.
Junior tri-captain Caroline Tuttle paced Lafayette, recording three shots on the day.
Erdman tallied six saves on the afternoon, while Stone made five saves to earn her first collegiate win and shutout.
The Leopards will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they complete a make-up game in Emmitsburg, Md. at 3:30 p.m. against Mount St. Mary's.
