The Leopards raised money for the Race for Hope 5K

Dec. 18, 2009

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Early last month, the Lafayette women's lacrosse team put their physical fitness to good use and participated in the Race for Hope 5K race in Philadelphia.

It was the National Brain Tumor Society's fourth annual Race for Hope in the City of Brotherly Love and nearly 6,000 members participated to honor those affected by brain tumors and to raise awareness and funds for research, patient services and advocacy. The Leopards raised $850 for the organization.

The team ran in support of Lauren Loose, the 12 year-old daughter of Lafayette defensive coordinator John Loose, who has battled pediatric brain tumors since birth. Loose and his family founded Lauren's First and Goal Foundation, Inc. in 2004 to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research and patient services. The foundation has raised more than $800,000.
