White Earns Breakthrough Player of the Year Honors

EASTON, Pa. – Junior midfielder Ana White was named Patriot League Breakthrough Player of the Year by Inside Lacrosse, it was announced Monday.
White was second in the nation last season in draw controls with 6.65 per contest. She was second on the team in goals with 36 and led the squad in assists with 20. Starting all 17 games, she also led the Leopards in ground balls, scooping up 31 for the year.
"As a program we are incredibly flattered that Inside Lacrosse has singled out Ana as the Patriot League Break Through Player of 2013," head coach Alison Fisher said. "Ana has had an incredible impact on our program in just two seasons and we are very excited about her junior year. She is a hard working athlete, committed to bettering herself and her team, and she is very deserving of this recognition."
In the Patriot League, White ranked sixth in assists (1.18) and points (3.29) per game and was tied for third in game-winning goals with four. She led the League in draw controls with over one more per game (6.65) than Loren Generi from Navy, who ranked second with 5.62 per contest.
The season gets underway for the Maroon and White on Feb. 16 when they take on Marist inside Fisher Stadium at 1 p.m.
